Charging Animation
Whenever I stick my iPod into the charger it goes to the main menu and shows the battery charging in the corner. Is that OK? Or should I turn it off again to get the battery animation to fill the whole screen?
EDIT: Also, when it's charged and I put it back into the charger it acts like it's charging more. Is that normal? Is charging with the iPod plugged into my computer any different from the adapter? Can it charge while the computer is off?

It doesn't matter.
If you don't touch it for a few minutes, it will go into the full-screen charging display, anyway.

Totally normal, see the Battery FAQ sticky message at the top of this forum.

What kind of computer and what operating system?
On my G3 Mac (OS X) I haven't had any problems charging it via the firewire port.

Check the battery faq. The ipod has a lousy battery meter. As for charging, the icon just acts like a timer, so when you unplug and plug it again, the timer resets. I never really tells if the ipod's fully charged or not.
