Ipod Battery Life

As we all know by now, disintegrating battery life is a major problem with the Ipod, and in some cases can be quite severe. I was looking to try to get an idea of the scope of the damage. If you're willing, post how long you've had your ipod and what it's battery life currently runs. Thanks!

I bought a refurbished iPod in September 2003. Last time I checked it can play music continuously for about 7.75 hours on a full charge.I also tested it with a couple other scenarios:
1) Play 1 hour, pause 1 day, play 1 hour, pause 1 day, etc... After 4 days (4 hours of music), the battery is completely drained and had to be recharged.
2) Pause for 4 days, then continuously play for 6 hours until battery drain. This test shows that alternating between pausing and playing as shown in test #1, battery is drained faster than pausing for 4 days, then continuously play until battery is gone.

I've had my iPod for a little more than a month - and I get slightly more than 7 1/2 hours of battery life. This seems to be the average for 3g iPods.paintnbike at 2007-11-15 14:09:06 >

my iPod is about 6 months old and i get at least 7.5 hours from a single charge, and i use it 5 days a week. it's charged overnight from acyinyang at 2007-11-15 14:10:15 >

I've had mine since May, use it everyday and get at least 7 hours a charge. I've had no loss of battery performance.mikey at 2007-11-15 14:11:10 >

For those that are claiming 7+ hours of battery life, how long do you leave it in standby or so called "off"? I have been travelling lately and over a 5 day trip away I use it for 2-3 hours on and off and at most off for up to 2 days (apple logo comes up next time I turn it on). Then use it for another 30-60 minutes, then the battery usually dies. I have done this twice already. Is this typical for leaving it in standby for this long. I think this is VERY disappointing and am considering taking it in to an apple store for exchange. Am I the only one? BTW this is a 3G 20GB I just got a month or so ago. Thanks.- JC -
