Battery after period of non-use

Help!!

My Ipod is about a year old (just over), but has not been used very much at all (15 times max).
It has been unused for a few months, and now after charging it displays full battery, but then cuts out with the battery warning exclamation symbol after 30 seconds of play. Is there any way I can resurrect this battery?

Failing that, where is the best place to get a replacement battery in the UK, and is this a better option than the apple service?

It is a second gen 10gb model

Anyone? Even if it is not resurrectable (is that a word?) where is the best place to get a replacement from (uk)

I take it from the symptoms this is the battery, I dont wanna fork out for a new one and find out iPod is faulty. Works fine when powered from pc or mains outlet

Someone must surely have had experience of this, or at least replacing their battery in the uk?
