iPod Battery Problems!

Okay, this is the deal... I bought a brand new 15GB 3G iPod when it came out and I've had it for about a month and when I hold play/pause to put it on standby and plug it in it starts chargin (everything is normal). When I wake up in the morning it says the battery is charged. When I turn it on it only is charged 1/4. So I charge it again... its goes to 1/2. I charge it again and it goes to 3/4 and so on until its full. FOUR DAYS TO F***ING CHARGE I DONT GET IT!!! DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT THIS IS PLEASE POST!!

It's called an inaccurate battery meter.

The iPod tries to calculate amount available in realtime and so sometimes it appears there is less charge available then there actually is. If you play the iPod and wait a bit you will notice that the battery meter slowly climbs up to normal. It fluctuate rather terribly.

remember you should be able to get 6-8 hours on your iPod. If the iPod says charged, chances are it was fully charged the night previously without any problems if you were charging through the AC adapter.

I know what you mean. The only problem is that the iPod meter doesn't climb back up, it just stays @ 1/4, 1/2, etc. Do you know anything about this?

P.S. is it possible to fix an inaccurate battery meter

You know, you'd think it would be quite easy for apple to fix this with a firmware upgrade. Every cell phone and PDA I've ever owned, and I've owned several, have had much, much more accurate battery meters, and several have had lithium ion batteries.

I feel there's no excuse - Apple should be able to fix this.

it would be easy, but i think we've all decided by now that we're not going to get a firmware update. sadly we're stuck unless someone knows how to decode the digital battery thing.
