Warranty question

Please choose the appropriate forum for this topic. Thank you. Let's say that I obtained an iPod mini on eBay at an outrageous price but the seller (@$$hole) refused to give me the sales receipt. Am I out of luck with respect to the warranty on the device?

If so, would I be able to use the sales receipt from a different iPod to claim warranty coverage on my eBay-bought one?

I am asking this hypothetically only because if this happened to me I would hypothetically be concerned about an impending recall b/c of the static/distortion issue.

If a question came up, Apple can tell where the mini originated. You can say that you got it as a gift from the eBay seller (insert name here)

As for a recall, I doubt that will happen. So far, the reports are isolated. You'll see more of them here, because this is where people go for answers when they're having problems.

From my understanding, you do not need an original receipt to get warranty work done. You just go to the website, fill out the appropriate information, and they send you the packaging. The downside to this, is minis that are stolen could easily be switched.

Can you buy the two year Apple care thing when you buy from third parties?
