plastic cover over scroll wheel
did anyone else just leave the plastic cover piece over the scroll wheel that was on there when you first got it? i got mine a couple days ago and i never took it off. i figure it would protect the wheel from getting dirty or whatever and it doesn't seem to affect the use of the wheel. should i quit being paranoid and just take it off?

Leave it on. I had to purchase a MacClear zip ($10) for my 30 gig to protect it

where can you buy this?

I've kept mine on as well. I also have the iSkin mini which doesn't have clickwheel protection, so with the plastic still on the cliskwheel, everything is protected.

I would suggest buying and using the clear plastic screen protectors you would use on a PDA. Cut out a round or square piece the size for the wheel...and also for the screen. They will stay on a long time.

I just received my mini, and I took off all plastic. I like to live on the edge! ;)
I've tried all kinds of cases for my regular iPod, but I always end up going back to "naked". I just stuff the iPod in my pocket along with my phone. My original iPod (1st generation) lived like this, and it shows very little wear. My wife now has it, and keeps it in one of those rubber-like sleeves.

I took it off. The clickwheel is sooo much more responsive w/o it.

yeah when i first got it, the wheel was really responsive, i guess because the plastic really stuck to the wheel... now theres little air pockets forming between the plastic and the wheel so i may take it off soon.

With my first ipod mini I took everything off... when I got my replacement I left the plastic cover on the wheel on because I notice it got dirty easily. Since I go mountain bike with my mini I didnt want to get the buttons dirty. I bought a business card wallet for my mini (it fits perfectly... you just have to poke a hole on the side so the earphone plug can fit through). I dont use the scroll wheel that much.
