30gigs of music on only 4gig...how?!

Hello all!

I am new to the ipod world, and I awaiting my new ipod mini (green) to be shipped.

I am getting ready to dump all my mp3's and I have a few questions. I am sure these
are covered everywhere, but I couldn't seem to find it.

- I am running on a PC, w/ a 30 gig external drive with all my mp3's (using itunes for PC)

- the ipod mini is 4 gig

How do I fill up the mini with exactly what I want...just toss in playlists? should I use ephpod or whatever for better results. I just wasn't sure if there was an uncontrollable sync rather than a selection....

thanks!@

Just use playlists with whatever synching software you like. Smartplaylists are nice to use for this because you can set them to 4gb chosen at random from the highest rated songs. Or other criteria. There are lots of ways to do it.

For my 10gb that's full, I synch all of my songs except the lowest rated ones. Then I created a smartlist that randomly selects a set amount of the the lowest rated based on how much space I have left on the iPod.
