i got to thinking after seeing ipodlounge's photos of the mini dissected. the 4gb compact flash from what i read appears to be able to seperate enough that it can be used in a compact flash device, does this mean also it is reversible so that i could stick a 512mb flash card in there and it would work? even more interesting is this (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2989775575&category=50519) there are alot of these auctions and they all have alot of bids for almost what the mini costs. i think im gonna cash my pay check and go buy a mini to see what i can do.

I was thinking the same thing. If i could sell the drive for almost the cost of the mini. Then stick a 256 CF card in there it would be great. A mini for the cost of a CF card. 256 is more than enough for the gym. I bet battry life would be much better also.I'm not about to try this myself first. But really hope it can be done.

This is very very very interesting. If anyone know I would be very interested in knowing weather this card can be used in other devices or another smaller CF card can be used in the mini. It would be very interesting (and save money!). But if you can, *if* it can be done it WILL make ebay more dangerous BE WARNED..."New iPod mini, buy now ?100"
The only problem it it has 128CF card and the person had sold the 4Gb one for ?400...

Is it easy to do, Im planning to buy another mini for its 4GB CF microdrive coz I couldnt get a movu2 4GB anymore.

so what's the dilemma then? im kind of missing the point here of the thread. If i understand correctly are you guys talking about taking out ipod mini's drive and installing these ebay flash cards in hopes of increasing battery life or what?? i really dont get it and im pretty up to date on ipod/technology stuff. Maybe someone could clarify for those that know even less than I do, this technology is still pretty new and im still pretty lost.

the point would be that you could have a flash based ipod, increasing battery life, also making up the cost entirely or almost entirely by selling the 4gb card that comes with itthetman at 2007-11-15 14:51:19 >
