Integration with mobile phones
A useful feature for a 4G iPod (or maybe one for this generation?) would be an integration with GSM telephones. How about an interface unit that
a. suspends the music when a call comes in
b. uses the iPod's earbuds for listening to your telephone
c. enables the ipod to be used as a voice recorder (for telephone calls, or other)
d. uses the ipod's address book to dial a number.
Any more ideas?

I don't really like that idea. For me the iPod is an mp3 player. If i want a phone, ill use a phone. Simple as that.

Or... just integrate them together into one combined iphone device? would probably simplify things a bit in the long run.
Then again... probably wouldn't be that good idea considering the speed mobile technology is advancing!

Yeah and besides they already have phones with MP3 players built in, and Sprint PCS will be lauching a webspace for users to save and stream MP3's to their phone soon. An excellent device that shows an example of this is the Treo 600. It has the ability for streaming music and cell phone at the same time.

I didn't mean to use the iPod as a phone. The idea is this: you're sitting in a bus, train or somewhere, listening to your favorite music. Then your mobile phone rings. Stop the music, take off the earbuds, grab your phone, etc. Isn't that annoying?
By the way, I hate to be disturbed by my mobile phone, but that's not the point.

Indeed, iPod is an mp3 player, and should be nothing else. If it everdid get to that level, an inferior signal such as gsm shouldn't be implimented. More like CDMA 1900. That would be the way to go. Eventually Apple would introduce a GSM adapter for Europe.

AHHHHh I understand now, that would be okay I guess, kind of a battery killer, but I could see it's use.
