2004 BMW AUX Input?
The '04 5 series BMW accepts a disk changer in the glove box, so access is quite easy. Anyone know of an AUX input device that will connect to the '04 changer interface? Thanks

BMW installs an AUX input in the glovebox as an accessory...won't that just work? I'm planning on doing that with my BMW X5 soon...

Well I just looked around the glovebox and also took out the false back in the rear of it and I still couldn't find an AUX line or any such place where the iPOD could be plugged into. It seem like it should be easy to find since the 6 disc changer is supposed to fit in the glovebox there. Unfortunately the service guys at my BMW dealership aren't being that helpful with me and my questions about putting my iPod in there instead of the disc changer.

04 BMWs are PRE-WIRED for an AUX input in the glovebox. The AUX input isn't pre-installed in the glovebox (at least it wasn't in my 330Ci). I had the dealer install it before I picked up the car. Look in your accessories catalog--it should be in there. I believe the the part costs about $30 + labor cost to have it installed. This is the simplest way to hook up the iPod in your car. There are other, more complicated ways, but this is the simplest. Also, be sure to raise the level of your AUX input, otherwise the volume coming out of the iPod will be too soft. To do this, simply hit the musical note button on the head unit until you get AUX LEVEL 0, then simply max it out at the "3" setting and leave your iPod volume fairly high as well.

I spent today at the BMW dealership with a service tech. The 04 BMWS (5 series, 7 series, and X series) are NOT pre-wired except with fiber optic wires and therefore do not have a "AUX input" in the glovebox nor can one be put in. Yes, the older body styles did and the 04 3 series still do--but the newer body styles do not. Grrrrrrrr......
