iTrip conks out occasionally

Hi all-

I have an iTrip for my 2gen 20gig iPod and typically all is well...I have it set to a nothing-frequency that has no station near it and I can listen for hours in the car. Occasionally though, at seemingly random times, the iTrip dies...the blue light goes out and what was good music is now screeching static...not the thing you want in traffic. Typically unplugging it and plugging it back in fixes it, but sometimes, not always, it doesn't. Or, it may for a few minutes, then conk out again. I switch to a "real" radio station, arrive at my destination, don't think about it for several hours, then get back in the car and all is well again.

Is it possible the thing is ... overheating? I wouldn't think so..it doesn't feel hot per se, but I'm not ruling anything out. There is nothing to interfer with the connection to the iPod, and it doesn't get knocked around, which might cause it to get loose. I have tried with an iPod car charger as well as without, and that particular extra piece of equipment doesn't seem to make any difference.

Thanks for any info,

Wanda
