problem with old pioneer head unit and ipod
my car has a very modest setup, which includes a pioneer deh-p2000 head unit and aftermarket speakers. also, i own a G3 20 gig ipod.
i've tried a few different configurations on my old pioneer head unit. since it has an aux input in the back, i've tried just running a stereo mini to rca cable to it with some success, but the mini port just doesn't seem to have the power to give me the quality i want in the car.
my second attempt included the same mini to rca cable and a belkin car kit. this setup seems to be a bit better, but still not nearly the sound i'm looking for.
what i am truly looking for is a way to connect the ipod so that i can control the volume and the eq settings on the head unit itself. i've seen several different ways to setup an aux-in head unit, including an aux input adapter which uses the multi-cd port, but i have no idea if they would work right in my car. i don't really want to spend a fortune on getting it all to work.
i really don't know which way to go here. i don't want to use the fm tuners that they have out, because i don't want tons of cables running everywhere and i don't think it would have the quality.
oh yeah, almost forgot, the two setups i tried before only seemed to work on the rear speakers. there is absolutely nothing coming out of the front speakers. and yes, the speakers do work otherwise.
HELP!!!!! i'm desperate here. i love my pod, but i don't think it's worth the $300 if it doesn't sound good in my car.
