1990 mercedes 300e and an Eclipse cd3421

I have an older car, a 1990 mercedes, and a few years ago (while my sister was driving it) the cd player stopped working, so we installed a new one. From what I read in the manual, it has a cd changer input somewhere in the back, and I was wondering if this was an easy way to get high quality audio from my ipod.

Ive heard about the ICE kit, or something like that, but Ive heard its not very reliable. What other options are there? Ideally, I dont want to use an fm transmitter. Are there any really cheap headunits with the little plug in the front for a line in style thing? How expensive is it to get one (or an RCA hookup) connected to the AUX in my head unit? What about powering the ipod, would I have to use a cigarette lighter adapter?

Thanks for the info.

get a head unit with AUX best way. I am not sure of the models. But Eclipse does have some with AUX in.

use a BELKIN cigarette lighter adapter to charge it & get the preamp output. This way the volume control is from the headunit(CD player).

So do you mean AUX in like a microphone type jack (like the output on my ipod) or do you mean AUX in like a cd changer input?
