Hello, this is my first post. I bought a new 40gb Ipod and a bunch of accessories including Belkin's Auto Charger to use in my car. The Ipod worked perfectly for a week until a few days ago was playing in my car plugged into the Belkin Charger. I turned car off to go into gas station and when I came back and started engine again, Ipod would not turn on (screen was blank).

I went home and read troubleshooting in the manual and tried the reset instructions with still no response and then called apple support on my "apple care" policy. The tech ran me through another bunch of tests before announcing I had a "DEAD UNIT" and would have to send it in for repair. As it was so new, the store I bought it at just exchanged the "Dead" unit for a brand new one to save me the hassle of returning it to Apple.

Now I have my new 40GB Ipod relaoded and working perfectly, I am hesitant to use it in my car with the charger. I am wondering what chances my first unit was defective from the factory somehow vs. it was killed by a power spike or such from the car charger? Any one here have any similar experience with this or feedback for me?
