I just want whichever has higher sound quality! Also do the A500's isolate sound like the E2C's?

A500's for sure man. E2s are only good for portable listening when you dont care about sound quality. E2s have shrill highs and inadequate bass. If you can, you should spring for A900s.

Also, why is it so hard to find those at common sites like Amazon or Buy? Have they been discontinued or something?? The best price I can find right now new is $99.00. Has anybody found something better for NEW ones. I dont buy used headphones/earphones, it feels the same as buying used socks or underwear.

The reason you can't find any of them anywhere else is because they are only available directly from Japan, as an import. They haven't been discountinued, they are just a direct import item. The best price (and pretty much the only price) for new ones is 99. But i can attest to them as they are sitting on my head right now and I also have the E2c, and if you are looking for home use, the a500's trounce on the e2c in every way. Although the e2c are great portable phones.

I sometimes use the ATH-D1000 (the biggest brother of the A-series chassis line-up with a built-in DAC and amp) with my discmen as a semi-portable, but comparing these to the E2c is like comparing grapefruits to cranberries (almost literally).
The A-series are LARGE. No, let me say that again. They're LARGE. An average-sized caucasian head will be engulfed. The key point is what you need, sound quaity for the buck or portability. The A-series are transportable, not portable.
electic, you might want to own or at least listen to phones before speaking about them. Just a suggestion.
