phones that dont enter ear, AND store flat?
Future iPod owner getting a head start...
My searches came up empty--so if this has been answered, I don't know the terminology! :) What is the proper name for the 'phones I seek? I want to share my 'phones easily, so they must be outside the ear--nothing inside. OTOH, I do NOT want to block out all noise (I need to hear the phone, etc.) so I don't want my ear totally encased.
I also want them to be durable and compact and store fairly flat because I'll be carrying my iPod in my slim laptop bag. So unless the earpieces turn sideways or something, they won't work well for me.
I'm no audiophile--I have fewer than 800 songs in iTunes--but I want the best quality I can get for under $40--or under $70 if I have no other choice.
I WOULD like some noise cancellation on occasion if affordable--but I doubt it will be.
Many thanks for any advice! I won't hit and run--I've been a regular article poster and lurker, and now am registered to contribute more. Especially once I decide what model I should choose for my first iPod! (Either Mini or 4G... once there IS a 4G. Meanwhile I'll use my new 'phones with my AlBook 15.)

Cool, I'll take a look! Any other recommendations? (If there's no term for this kind of headphones... I propose "no-wax" :) )
And a little brainstorm... whatever people suggest, I'll come back later and post links I've explored about them. That way anyone else finding this thread later can just click. I think that would be a good habit for all threads, and a useful thank-you from the questioner!
To start with, from Google:
PX-100 (look great so far--anyone have them?):

SR-60:

(Too easy--just highlight any word in Safari and ctrl-click to Google it.)

Try this page on headphone.com. It's their full list of headphones:

Most have mini reviews and you can see pictures of them.

Thanks. Sight unseen, I like the PX100s--uniformly reviewed among the very best in their price range even if you don't need the cool folding mechanism. If I find a good price with free shipping (or locally) I think I'll go for it!
Now I have to ask... where can I find reviewers' terms like "sweet" and "hard" defined? PX100 reviews all say the sound is great, but when nitpicking they say it's "too sweet" to be ideal for some music types, and that a "harder" sound might be preferred by some. I'm not worried about this, I'm sure I'd never notice--I'm just curious what the heck they mean!
(Now some keywords to help others find this in searches: fold folding foldable foldible folded collapse collapsed collapsing colapsing collabsible collabsable compact small portable portible light light-weight supra-aural outside ear padded comfortable headphones earphones head ear phones sennheiser senheiser sennhieser senhieser sennheizer px100 px 100 px-100 )
If I get them I'll add a quick non-audiophile review :)

Thanks--very timely! From what little I've read, the PX200s are very similar but closed--and that an open design sounds better--BUT lets sound in (and out) more than the open.
They fold the same (which I didn't realize before), so they are definitely something I'll want to consider vs. the 100--thanks for the review.
EDIT--read the review, and you didn't care for the PX200s either. So I'm still going for the 100s--they're only slightly different but reviews say they have great bass.
