ok,
today at school one of our brilliant teachers gets on the topic of mp3 players. then all of the sudden he says "ya those ipods suck. they're overpriced and the sound quality is horrible." so i asked him, "what kind of mp3 player do you have mr. blank(we'll keep his name anonymous...dont wanna embarass him;) ) he tried to act all smart and responded with "well i have a 15 gb dell jukebox" i proceeded with, "are you sure your not just ticked off because you can't afford an ipod?" this was deff pushin it because after all he's the teacher and im the student. but this was deff one topic that i could out educate him in any day of the week. so now my teacher hates me, and im pretty sure he still doesnt like ipods. oh well his loss on both counts ;) . haha

snowgirl, i'm with u 100%. I have both the Dell Jukebox 15GB and a 10GB iPod. the Dell Jukebox takes FOREVER to upload music, etc. My dad works for Dell so we got it for free, but it's rediculous, it's got a very slow working processor, and the sound quality on iPod, in my opinion, is much better. Screw Dell. Let's just hope my Dell 8200 PC doesn't ##### slap me for that.

He's entitle to his opinion, but I know how it feels to have a teacher who is closed-minded. I hate that, when you know you have a really good point that you could prove, but you can't because they're the teacher and you're the student. Urg, makes me shudder to think about it. But he is entitled to his opinion, just like you're entitled to your opinion when it comes to the Dell.

oh no no, dont get me wrong, i LOVE dell. as a matter of fact i have a dell 4400 and i love it. but i hate how he thinks his jukebox is so sweet and ipods suck.

I hate people that automatically claim to hate iPods even though they've never even used one. I say that they're all just jealous. Bwahahahaha.

Oh and snowgirl, probably not the best way to endear yourself to your teacher by stating that he can't afford something his students have.
Teachers get the shaft as it is--think about it, we pay them less than trashmen--says something about what we think of our youth today doesn't it.
Uh, oh, did I just hijack this thread? Sorry, I've got a 5 year old just about to start school. And because schools suck so bad here in Calif. I get to spend $400+ a month to send my son to a decent kindergarten. Can you believe it? :rolleyes:

Agreed, My brother and sister both go to year round school. The schedule is so screwy. The time they do spend in school is wasted doing pointless activities.

whenever i hear someone say that the ipod is a ripoff or if the dell is awesome, i know the real resaon. they cant afford it.

Don't want to turn this *too* nasty, but you've got to admit that the Dell Jukebox is pretty darned ugly. Looks cheap to me. And cheap means more expensive in the long run...
I never thought I'd buy an iPod. Someone gave me a Rio 64meg that I used at the gym. It was a piece of trash and the on/off switch just broke off one day. By then I'd become rather dependent on having my own music @ the gym so I started looking for something to replace it, figuring I could buy another little piece of junk like that for maybe $40 or $50. It was good enough for the gym and I didn't need anything else.
That's when I found out that those little pieces of junk are $100 and up. All of a sudden, an iPod didn't seem so expensive. I realized that if I spent, say $150 on one of those 128 meg mp3 players, it would probably not last a year. And I'd need another. Just like everything else, buying quality usually SAVES money in the long run. I'm not rolling in dough.
Well, that iPod saved me just a few days later when my hd died. It filled in for my powerbook hd until I was able to find another one. Without it, I'd have been WITHOUT A COMPUTER (oh, the horror!) for DAYS at home. And now podapotamus comes to work with me every day and I have lovely classical music to make my day more pleasant. I save the punk rock & country crying-in-your-beer stuff for home...

yeah the teacher's definitely just jealous. I mean, when it comes to portable mp3 players, you gotta give the iPod thumbs up and more.
i must admit though, that even though dell dj doesn't rock, dell laptops definitely do! i own one and love it to death!
