a couple of audible.com questions

i've been wanting to buy an ipod for a while now and now that i found out you can get $100 off one by joining audible.com for a year (i love audio books), i'm ready to get one

first, i'm thinking about doing the $19.95 for 2 books a month. Will this get me ANY book they have on there site or does it exclude new books or more expensive books?

second, can i put the books on more than 1 ipod or other mp3 player? i also have a treo600 that i would like to put them on just incase i dont have my ipod with me. and i always carry my treo because its my phone too.

third (last one). Those of you that have done this deal with the $100 off. where did you end up buying the ipod? amazon? crutchfield? any of the others?

thanks in advance.

This will get you any two books on the site regardless of price or how new it is.

With audible manager, you can activate up to 5 (I think) devices. This can be multiple mp3 players or cd burners. So yes, you can listen to your books on more than just your iPod. Just make sure the devices are supported by audible.

thanks for the answers,
one more question...
if you burned the book on to a cd(s), wouldnt you just be able to rip it again and then use it on any device you have anyways?

If you did that - it would then be an .mp3 file and you loose book marks in .mp3. I rented the Harry Potter CD's and loaded them as .mp3 (they books are not on audible) and gave up after having to find my place everytime. Not worth it to me.

You could play that CD where ever you want I guess. But it's so much nicer on the ipod.

There's a thread that describes how to convert a non-Audible .mp3 file into a file that can be "bookmarked" like an Audible file. Check out http://www.ipodlounge.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=25502 and see if the method described in that thread would permit you to make the Harry Potter book easier to listen to on your iPod.
