transfer songs from already synched ipod to itunes

Hi, have an ipod that was synched to another computer with music on it. Have itunes set up with other music on it. ideally i would want to have all the music in my itunes so that I can listen to all of it. only way i found how to download music to itunes without losing it was through EphPod. Now i have all the music listed on my itunes

Problem...the music that came from my ipod can only be played when my ipod is connected to my computer. if i try to play it with disconnected a prompt says that "the song cannot be used because the original file cannot be locate" it asks me if i want to locate it, and with what folder/file. No matter what i've chosen, nothing works. i can however still play the songs that were already on my ipod

Please help, this is driving me crazy! thanks very very much,

You computer is trying to read the songs off of the iPod, even when it's playing them through iTunes. You need to have a local copy stored on the hard drive. Plug the iPod into the computer, make sure you are able to play one of the songs that's on it, check your "iTunes Music folder location" in Edit->Preferences->Advanced->General, make sure it shows the folder where you want the files to be stored (and where the rest of your files already are stored), and then consolidate your library using Advanced->Consolidate Library. This will copy into your iTunes Music folder all the files in your library which weren't already in that folder.

Thanks so much for your assistance. I am actually out of town for the next days, and will be attempting this as soon as I get back. If at all possible, I will be in touch if there are any problems with this. Sounds pretty straight forward. Thanks again,
