How long does it take to convert a movie for the Ipod. I seems to be taking me 7hrs to convert 1 movie to work on my Ipod.Am I doing something wrong or is this standard?

Hello and welcome to iLounge. Many people with mid to old systems often find out that Videora takes forever to convert a movie. On my notebook (see specs in sig), it took Videora 15 minutes to convert a 4 minute music videos.I think you are fine, don't worry about it. Videora is notoriously slow anyways.

Welcome to the forums.It is completely normal if you have an older computer. If for some reason, your video did not turn out as planned, try giving Jodix iPod Converter a chance. You can always preview your videos while being converted.

The majority of the work is done by the processor and RAM. A Intel Celeron M or AMD Sempron processor will struggle greatly with this. I have found that the Pentium M architecture (included in the Pentium M, Core Duo, and Core 2 Duo line of processors) can handle Videora nicely with the approrpiate ammount of RAM. Videora will really cook with at least 1GB of usable RAM (this means that your computer has a graphics card with dedicated memory on board, it is not sharing with the processor's RAM).kornchild2002 at 2007-11-15 17:44:41 >

If we are taking about the latest versions of Videora iPod Converter (2.x), it also depends (in addition to what was said above) a lot on the profile that you use.VGA profiles will take longer than QVGA profiles to convert
H.264 profiles will take longer than MPEG-4 profiles to convert
Profiles with advanced video codec features will take longer to than those without these extra features (No Flags, Few Flags)
By default Videora uses the "H.264 VGA 768kbps Stereo/128kbps" profile which is one of the slowest ones available. We're planning on changing this default down to QVGA in the next version since the majority of people don't need VGA.
Remeber, you can always select another profile by hitting the "Convert Video" button and then picking one drop the Profile dropdown box.
