TV shows syncing problem

I have a large collection of movies and TV shows in my iTunes library.

Most of them have been converted from DVD files or AVI files to mp4 using Xilisoft or Videora.

I normally upload full length Movies converted with either program, but rarely upload TV shows.

I recently uploaded all of my Scrubs seasons to a friends ipod and they only played the audio(I eventually fixed it by resetting the thing, but not before i wanted to test out the shows on my own pod). Hers was on manual and mine is on auto-sync

Anywho when I try to fiddle with my iPod video settings, only certain TV shows appear in the iPod settings tab. When i change the non-appearing files to movie, they will however appear in the movie tab. but when i upload it, none of the tv shows will go to my ipod.

My first thought was faulty format, so i read some #### and attempted to convert the problematic shows to iPod format, via the advanced tab. iTunes then told me that the TV shows were already in iPod format.

wtf is goin on, please help or direct me to a link that i missed

Hello and welcome to iLounge. All of the correct information must be filled in for a TV show to work. Right-click on a video and left-click on Get Info, then click on the Video tab. Change the video kind to TV show then make sure all of the other information is filled in such as Show, Season Number, Episode ID, and Episode number. ALL of those must be filled in or it won't work. Make sure that all the information under the Info tab is properly filled in as well. Make sure Name (episode name), Artist (if the show is South Park, then the artist would be South Park), Album (if it is season 1, then make sure it says South Park Season 1), track number (normally the episode number), and disc number (the season number) are also filled in.

That should be about it. iTunes is pretty picky about TV shows.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
Im happy its that simple but ####ed off because I have to do it for like 7 seasons of shows, The bad thing is that some of those fields were already filled in but i deleted them for uniformity and what not.

Thanks for the help, but why is itunes that picky, Episode ID isnt even an avaliable column so how would most people know to do that?

Episode ID is only for the videos purchased off of the iTunes Store so don't worry about it.

iTunes is really picky about TV shows because they needed a way to keep everything organized. If it wasn't so picky, everything would just be lumped together in the TV Show or movie category. There are a lot of anal people out there (like me) who like to have everything separated in its own little category. Apple made iTunes picky to satisfy people like me. I guess it is a little too picky for the average Joe (or for someone who has their own organization strategy) but it works.

I guess that makes sense, although for me just adding the artist and album info is making it show up on my iPod settings, I havent yet had to put in episode id, name, or episode number. hmmmm
