Bootcamp
Hello everyone.
I'm thinking of using Bootcamp on my MacBook. I want to be able to play some Windows XP games on my Mac and so I was told about this Bootcamp or whatever.
My question is, how safe is this thing? Is there anything that I should be aware of? All I want to do is play simple Windows games.
Also, is there any sites that have tutorials? I went to Apple's, but I thought it sounded weird. Is there anyone here who has tried Bootcamp before? What are your opinions?
Thanks.

Alright, I have service pack 1A, not 2. What's the difference? So now I can't install Windows XP?
# 2 Re: Bootcamp
Bootcamp is for real, but is a "beta" so not officially supported by apple (though developed by them).
The only thing to take into account that if you use bootcamp and install windows then it's susceptible to all the same things a windows machine is...
Can't help you with the install, though.

Okay, thanks guys. I installed it, worked alright. The only thing is that it doesn't turn off properly. So then I uninstalled Windows. Note to everyone: It ISN'T WORTH IT! Keep Macs for Apple Computers and keep Windows separate.
It was a good program that Apple created. Perhaps it can be fixed up a little bit, it has potential.
I guess I'll just be playing games on my other computer. Poor MacBook, you took a lot of restarts little guy. :(

Well, maybe it's because you don't have SP2...or because it's still beta. It'll be perfected in Leopard though.

The Apple site ( http://www.apple.com/macosx/bootcamp/) says "You’ll need Windows XP Home Edition or Professional, Service Pack 2 installation disc." So maybe that's why you were having problems.
There is also an PDF installation & setup guide link on the page.

Actually, I don't think that's the problem. I know they say you need the Service Pack 2 installation disc, but there have been numerous amounts of people that have successfully installed Windows XP on their Macs using Service Pack 1a. I think what I needed to do, (which I forgot to do) is to install the one disc you burn using Bootcamp, because that has all the information on the laptop and things.
I'm not going to re-install it, it's a hassle. Maybe for future reference or something. I wish that stores carried more computer games for the Macs. :(
