What is auto gain?
Hi all,
Just got a Belkin TuneTalk for my 2G Nano. Going to record a concert tonight. Should I set the auto-gain to on or off? I don't really understand what exactly the difference is, and neither the manual nor Googling seem to help. THANKS!
Best,
R

If Belkin if not able to tell you....
I am guessing and this is totally a guess, auto-gain means the system has a fixed preset (recording volume) and it will auto-normalize (never allows anything goes beyond 100%). Turning off means manual, and should preserve the original fidelity wo any changes, but then to record manual successfully, the gadget better give u a real-time vu meter. With this "less than professional" quality thingy u just gotta trial&error, starting with auto and see if ur happy with it.
Don't expect anything spectacular with these things, in fact, keep receipt... Any onmi directional recording gadget is gonna give u LOTSA background noises... good enough for the casual recital and what not but far, far, far being hifi.
