"Burn playlist to disc" is grayed out - cannot burn to cd-r disc.
I am unable to burn playlists on my (4th gen.) iPod to blank cd-r disc.
I have viewed Preferences/Advanced/Burning and see that iTunes (v. 7.0.2.16) recognizes my D: drive (SAMSUNG CD-R/RW SW252S).
iTunes even recognizes the blank cd-r when I insert it into the cd drive and begins to instruct me on how to select a playlist and click the Burn Disc button on the bottom right of the iTunes window. (I cannot see the Burn Disc button.)
Thanks,
Bob P.

Have you burned that playlist before? iTunes imposes a limit of 7 times for burning any individual playlist (to discourage mass-reproduction of CD's I suppose).

No, I've never burned the playlist (or any playlist for that matter).

I constructed a new playlist and when attempting burn CD, the 'Burn playlist to disc' does not appear at the bottom right. I have successfully burned 2 Cds previously. Re-installing iTunes did not help. I do get the message re: blank CD has been inserted, etc.

After setting this option on the Edit/Preferences/Advanced/Burning tab, the Burn CD option was active at the bottom of the playlist screen. CD burn was successful.

I have the same problem, but the sound check doesn't work and I'm just desperate to make a cd but it doesn't show up on the playlist but it shows up on the pre-made playlists e.g 'Recently Added' etc... HELP!:(
Thanks, Phil

Make sure you are selecting a list that it in iTunes and not on the iPod.
What are the contents of the playlist? Perhaps they are songs that can not be burned for the format you have selected in the burning preferences. (i.e. protected aac's can't be burned to Mp3).
