should i buy this ipod??

this is my first time buying an ipod, i found this seller who's selling it at a reasonable price, but i was just wondering if i should be wary at all about buying these ipods from him?
i've read on this forum that there are some ppl who bought their ipods online and turns out to be fake.
he has pictures of the ipod he's selling, i'm interested in buying the 4gb and 8gb one
here's some pictures:

do you think i should be worrying about the authenticity of these ipods at all??

also, i would like to ask about warranty, i know u can check the warranty period left on the apple website, let's say the website says my ipod's warranty started from Nov 06, will registering my ipod on the website restart the warranty date? or would it still be at Nov 06?

hope someone can help answer my questions!!!
thanks in advance!

You really need to make sure the seller is legitimate. There are many sellers out there trying to rip off people. Is he selling this on eBay, or does he have eBay or Heatware feedback? Beware if he's trying to sell it for a very low price. There really isn't much of a markdown on iPods anywhere.

Personally, when it comes to buying a new iPod, I'd just as soon walk into a store or purchase it from a reputable online dealer, rather than try to save a few bucks dealing with an online seller. Peace of mind is worth the few extra dollars.

As far as the warranty, I believe it starts on the day you bought it.

That third pictures serial number isn't ripped at all, it was painted on Microsoft Paint or some program like that. You can tell just by looking around the edge of the case.

The fourth picture showing the serial number is a bit sketchy, this is a tough decision. I'd get a few more people's decision before buying.

Also, does the seller have good feedback? Has he/she sold a lot of items?

well, i found this seller on craiglist, not ebay, so they don't have a feedback system that i can check.
but one plus point is that i will be meeting up with him to get the ipods, so maybe i should just check the goods first before giving him the money?

other than making sure the serial number labels are not ripped out, are there any specific things that i should probably check?

The pictures don't mean anything. I could sell a fake iPod but post real pictures. I'd look at how reliable the seller is by looking at his feedback percentage.

make the seller post a picture of the actual screen running, or better yet, the about screen. The article looks real to me, but there are very good fakes around.

If he lives close to your place, then the best thing to do would be to deal with him in person.

thanks for all the replies! i've decided to buy an 8gb red refurb nano from apple!
after reading all the threads about refurbs, i guess they are safe and also since the red nano wasn't released too long ago, the units shouldn't be that old
and they are going for the same price as what this seller is offering! CAD$250!
can't wait for it to arrive!
