new monochrome iPod

1) I already registered my iPod on my desktop (work) computer & recieved e-mail confirmation from Apple.

2) My iTunes, and 3,000 songs are on my laptop (home) computer.

3) When I hookup my iPod to my laptop, it is recognized ("new hardware" message)... but ONLY the "RESTORE" button (not the UPDATE) is click-able. I've restored the iPod about 5x (and plugged it into the wall as instructed) but it still won't let me to click the UPDATE button.

4) When I check iTunes, in options, it says "no iPod is connected".

5) I have had about 4 different iPods (they keep breaking, Apple keeps giving me refurbished ones) and have never had a problem hooking them up to my laptop or iTunes.

WHAT AM I DOING WRONG??

the update is for the firmware not to update you library if you have the ipod set to manually sync the that is what you will need to do and manually sync it

if your pc is not reconizing the ipod hook it up and add hardware to your pc through the control panel and see if it will add the driver for you if not you may need to reinstall itunes ( make sure you back up your library )
