Signature size is too small!
I don't know if this has been posted before, if it has been posted, then I am sorry.
I feel that the limitations on the signature size ans dimensions are just a bit too small. It is just not possible to make a quality signature when you have a restriction of 300x40 pixels, and a size restriction of 10kb. I feel that the resolution limit can be increased a bit, and the size to around 40kb. Maybe then we'll see more signatures around.
Cheers!!

Here is a link ( http://forums.ilounge.com/showthread.php?t=99724) to a past signature discussion.
The size limit is actually 300x50 pixels, and the size limit has doubled from 5 kb to 10 kb. ;)
I'm perfectly happy with the current signature limits. :D

Well, I think the two Sig Of The Year competitions that have been run in the forums have disproved that as does the 210 pages (http://forums.ilounge.com/showthread.php?t=26570&page=210) of requests for sigs.

Sometimes it is tough to get artifacting down to an acceptable level while keeping the filesize under 10 KB.

Well seeing as iOnMac has the sig rule "a) Your sig may not be bigger than 300 X 100 and 20kb in size" and as they allow 300x100 I guess our limit of 10kb for a sig half as high is reasonable?
Many seem to manage to get the 'quality' they want in their sigs within the limits we set.

Most sigs here suffer from artifacting.

Well we can turn them off if you wish. The option is 300x50x10kb or none.
We do not want the forums to look like advertising hoardings/billboards - it was bad enough when the "user" sigs started to proliferate their way into the forums - I mean who cares if someone is a coke drinker or plays a certain type of video game or is a GMail user??

I agree.

Turning off the ability to have sigs is an option, yes.
Most of the sigs seems fine to me - apart from the odd one made in Paint and saved in the wrong format....

I think the sig limit is fine, makes it more challenging to think of a good sig. More creativity squeezed into tiny packages most of the time.
# 10 Re: Signature size is too small!
More creativity is definitely needed. It is sort of tough to create siggies within the specified limits, atleast for me.
# 11 Re: Signature size is too small!
Go on - give it a try. You might be surprised....

Umm... I am not very good at making siggies. But I've got a question. Has this restriction been introduced because of the large number of members registered on this site?
# 13 Re: Signature size is too small!
I think the sig size limit is set so the post will be bigger than the sig. The vast majority are totally fine with the sig size as it is. If you don't feel you can make a good enough sig at the current size then go to the official sig request forum and ask someone to make one for you. I personally have seen some killer sigs here and all of them conform to the rules.

I guess that is the best thing to do!!
