Not able to play video on a video iPod -- anyone know why?
I am getting the following message when I attempt to sync my iPod/upload a podcast:
" [podcast xyz] " was not copied to the iPod "my iPod" because it cannot be played on this iPod.
My iPod is the 80gB video iPod and I am running the most recent software 1.2.1 My OS is Win XP. The podcast is a video podcast and it will play in iTunes. When I look at the properties of the podcast it shows the file as being an MP4 video file. Any idea why I would be getting this error message?

It looks like there is a problem with the iPod. Do other videos work on your iPod? Have you tried a reset? Press and hold menu+center for some time.
Otherwise, try a restore.

The problem is probably with the video. The video is not in an appropriate format for iPod playback. iTunes can play different video formats than the iPod can as iTunes can support mpeg-1 and some other file formats in the MOV containers.
You can convert the video so that it is compatible with your iPod. Simply right-click on one of the videos and left-click on Convert Selection For iPod. iTunes will then convert the podcast for iPod use. If iTunes is unable to do so, then you need to contact the source of the podcast and let them know. I have had some video podcasts that didn't work in the beginning. Then, they re-released them and they play fine.
If none of that works, then try restoring your iPod.
