properly disconnecting

I know I can eject my ipod on itunes. But on the bottom right side on my computer. I can go to safely remove the ipod too. Is it nesscary to remove it from itunes, and from the safely remove harddrive box? Because I can do both. Does it matter. Is it better?

They're both the same.

I do both, but you don't have to. One or the other is good enough (preferably eject in iTunes). Just make sure you wait until the "do not disconnect" if off the screen and then you can unplug it.

I always eject it from itunes, and then use the "safely remove hardware" feature. So actually, I do both, just to be on the safer side. It doesn't take much time to do both you know.
