Hello and welcome to iLounge. You can try using a couple of things. Brasso might take it off but you will probably need something with a little scrubbing power like iCleaner (http://www.icleaner.com/). Either way, you have a long road ahead of you. If you get the Brasso, you will have to make sure that you don't scratch your iPod. Using the iCleaner will scratch your iPod but that is why it comes with two different polishes. One polish you scrub in until the deep scratches come off, the other polish is used to take the light scratches off. The iCleaner will require a good couple of hours of scrubbing, the Brasso will probably require at least an hour.
Your best bet is to probably just leave it on (unless it is covering the screen) as it will be a lot of work to take it off. Just purchase a case, like an iSkin (www.iskin.com), that will cover it up.

Superglue is a tough one, you would need to use a CA glue debonding agent (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?Q=1&I=LXPT41&P=4) that will probably cause more damage. It can be found at hobby shops.
Like kornchild2002 says, try to live with it or get a new front panel (http://www.ipodmods.com/shop/ipod-video-2g-parts.html).
