Ipod Screen freezes during song playback

I've got an annoying bug with my 30GB video iPod, and I've tried numerous solutions I dug up online, but to no avail.
Basically, during playback of generally the second or third song, the iPod screen will freeze completely, the song will continue to the end, and then that's it: it just stops dead, and won't play any more songs. I reset it, and guaranteed, by song number two or three next time round, it'll happen again.
Now the bummer is this has started occurring less than a month after I restored the entire device due to another unrelated problem. I wiped the slate clean, put all my music back onto it and now this is happening; makes me wonder why I didn't opt for a Zen or something...
Anyone got any suggestions other than the regular reset/restore solution?

does this always happen on the same song, or is it just any song?

Any song at all. And it's normally on the 2nd or 3rd song of playback, for some reason.

Seems to me that your (iPod) memory is failing.
The HD keeps filling up the memory and at some point this fails (maybe ?).

Must be a read/write failure. Your hard drive might be having bad sectors. Try defragging it manually.

Try restoring it, that SHOULD clear the problems up. If it doesn't, return it.

He/she has tried that out. Read the post completely.

You could try a manual format, or a defrag, like I already said as a last resort. If both the attempts fail, then you'd better get it fixed by apple.
