Ipod Video to TV
I have bought an Apple AV lead to connect my Ipod to my Samsung TV. I have tried all combinations of holes (as the AV lead has white, yellow and red leads) and the TV has numerous red and white sockets, one blue, one green and no yellow sockets and the yellow lead connected into the green hole is the only combination that gives me a picture. However this picture is pretty low quality and black and white and I have tried changing the video setting between PAL and NTSC which makes no difference.
Ideally I would like to be able to connect the Ipod to my Panasonic SC-HT855EB-S home cinema system so I could get the sound benefits but there is no combination of wires any holes that gives me picture or sound.
If anyone could help me sort this out would be much appreciated

Hello and welcome to iLounge.
Your TV's input NEEDS to have a yellow video connector, this is called composite video. The iPod will only output to composite video (yellow) and RCA audio left and right (white and red). If your TV doesn't have the yellow video input (I can't imagine why it wouldn't), then you will have to look for other options.
You were trying to plug your iPod's video cable into your TV's component video input. Component video is made up of green, blue, and red. Component and composite are two different formats. That is why, when you plug your iPod into the component video, it doesn't look good and is in black and white.
Your TV MUST have a composite video (yellow) input since it has component, pretty much every TV on the market that has component input has at least one composite input.
If you want us to see if your TV has composite input, you can either take a picture of the inputs of your TV (make sure macro mode is enabled on your computer, we can't help if it is a fuzzy picture) or you can give us the model number of your TV.

Firstly many thanks for your advice I have managed to locate the yellow socket which give much better picture quality. I have another question - I would love to be able to connect the Ipod to my Home cinema system (Panasonic SC-HT855EB-S) to get the benefits of the sound.
However I can find no composite connectors on the DVD player at all (I also thought of connecting the visual to TV and audio to DVD player but this does not work and even if it did the wire is not long enough)
I am guessing I have to buy another wire to connect the TV to DVD player to get the sound working?
Thanks in advance

Hi, i connected the iPod (through the iPod dock) to my home cinema system.
Just like you have now the Yellow wire to the TV and the Red/White to a line in of your
home cinema set.
I use for the iPod the DVR/VCR audio in, no problems, but you can you every free audio in option...... :-)

I've just started playing around with the TV out feature of the iPod. I bought the Belkin AV cable. I don't use my iPod for home use, just planning on using the TV out while on vacation in a hotel or other situations like that. But I while I'm playing around with video settings, I've been using it at home.
I have an Onkyo home threater system that has 3 sets of audio/video in's on the receiver. So I have 1 audio cable running out from the TV and into the receiver, 1 from the DVD player to the receiver and 1 from my computer to the receiver. So if I'm watching TV, watching a DVD or listening to iTunes from the computer, everything can be played through the home theater system. So when I've plugged the AV cable from the iPod into the front audio/video in connections on my TV, I can listen to what I'm watching on the TV through the home theater without having to connect the cable to each thing seperately, which would be impossible for me anyway because the AV cable ends aren't long enough.
