30g Ipod video problem
I was playing a video on my 30g Ipod and held down the rewind button to rewind it a bit and when i went to play it again, nothing happen. All I have now is a black screen. How do I fix this problem? IS there a way to or do i have to buy a new Ipod? Any help is appreciated. Also I tried shutting it off and then restarting it and nothing. None of the buttons work, I cant do anything with it just a black screen.

I know you said you shut it off and restarted, but did you reset? Definitely give it a shot before you panic; it fixes a lot of strange problems. First, toggle the hold switch off to on a couple of times. Next, hold down the center button and the menu button simultaneously. I think the apple site says this step should take about 6 seconds, but for me it usually takes about 20 so be patient. Also, it helps if your ipod is naked (no case) when you reset, I think because it's important to press the buttons on exactly the right spot. When you see the apple logo, the reset is done. See if that helps.

If a reset doesn't work, then try a full restore through iTunes, or through my computer. If that doesn't work, try going into disk mode, press Menu+center and the play/pause button.

i left my 30GB on last night by accident. when i tried to turn it on this morning i heard a whirrrr sound from the hdd trying to spin up and got a half black screen with the apple logo (which froze this way). i couldn't get it to do anything until i charged it for a little while. is it possible that the battery just ran out on your when it stopped? if you haven't tried charging it i would do that first. i didn't even need to do a reset...once it had a good charge it was fine.
