The GIMP expert needed

Every time I want to install this message pops up to warn me. Is this significant or can I ignore this? Thanks for your help.

The Setup detected that your CPU has HyperThreading enabled. This is known to cause lockups with certain buggy BIOSes. If GIMP appears to hang up while loading extension_script_fu, try to either upgrade your BIOS or disable HyperThreading in the BIOS setup.
Consult your motherboard's manual for more information on how to upgrade the BIOS or how to disable HyperThreading.

Edit: Scroll down. I have another question.

But I wasn't. At least not intentionally.

The reason I put my question down here, is because I needed to bump my post so someone could help me.

How do you copy an image on the GIMP, without taking any of the background? I just need the object in the picture not any white background. I am doing something for school and I need it to look neat. Thanks in advance.

Layer>Transparency>Add Alpha Channel

It doesn't seem to work, I only want to take the object and paste it on a seperate picture. It seems to highlight the whole image.

Can't you just erase whatever part of the image you don't want on that individual layer?
