Black Friday Q&A

Okay, so I've finally decided that prices have come down enough for me to get an LCD-TV, and with black friday in just a few hours, I've decided to go to my local best buy to try to pick up 2 (my brother is going to come with me and pick one up as well). With that said, my question is how early should I get there? I don't think I've EVER done the whole black friday thing before, but with a price tag of $479, and a $100 gift card I've been waiting to use, it's too good to resist. I'm thinking I'll camp out around 2 AM, since they are handing out tickets at 4 AM, but does anyone who has done this before know if that is too early, too late, or a good time? Thanks guys, and wish me luck!

To be honest, I'm really not sure. I haven't heard anything, other than there will be an 'online black-friday' sale on their site.

I just drove by Best Buy at 11:45 p.m. There were already 200 people in line. The first guy in line had a sign that said "I got here at 9:00 a.m." Yikes!

The answer to your question about what time to get there is: 12 hours ago. Seriously. A friend of my daughters is camping out outside of BB with her family.

Wow.

Do you think iPod cases and such are going to be cheaper at department stores?

And I have $6.50 cents left on my apple giftcard, Maybe prices will drop at the online apple store and I can finally use it on something :-P

Looks like the online apple store is down preparing for black friday sale

It's nothing new... but after seeing this ( http://youtube.com/watch?v=lEPdRPxR_i0) I have serious issues with the idea of "shopping" especially when there's a crowd. 9a.m. to get in for Black Friday? Jesus ####ing Crist...

So is there or is there not an actual discount on iPods and Macbooks on the online store...?

I checked and there were only like: Savings: $38 when the prices are still the same as before.

when you click 'select' or 'add' button, discount will be effected immediately. I just ordered notebook bag for my macbook. original price is $39.95. but discount price is $29.95 include tax.

I say go back in a day or two and take advantage of the returned open-box TVs. I saved $180 on the basement LCD that way.

Well, I just got back from what was probably the worst experience of my life. My brother, my friend, and I all drove by each best buy around 11pm, and the line was already around the corner at both of them. So, we settled on circuit city. Temps were below freezing, but we waited the 5 and a half hours and each of us got our voucher. We then waited for the store to open, grabbed a couple of DVDs and waited in another line for around an hour just to pay. Then, we waited yet again just to pick up the damn thing. But, not being defeated, we finally squeezed each of the TV's into my brother's car and made it home.

The TV looks awesome for the money, and although I'm a bit worried about not buying the extended warranty, I held off. Wish me luck and thanks for the help!

I'm glad you got the TV's you were interestred in. I give you a lot of credit for going this route. As for me, I'd rather be caught dead than waiting all this time to be granted "privilege" (ie vouchers) to pay my hard earned money for merchandise.

360s have always been 400 bucks for the premium...

TV - $0 (Tickets gone before I got one)

Seinfeld DVD Sets - $0 (No way I'll stand in that line for some DVDs)

Waking up at quarter of 2 for nothing - PRICELESS

Yes, highly recommended. Remember, lots of families split up on Black Friday and mistakes are bound to happen. Some family may end up with 3 TVs if they're not in close cell phone contact.

You quoted the wrong post, but that's okay. I feel sorry for you Canadians, as it's about 40 bucks more American for it there.

I walked into Circuit City and Target beginning at 11:00 a.m. and they still had plenty of cheap DVDs and CDs. There were no long lines at the register. I'm glad I slept until 8:00. :)
