Macbook Pro: Glossy Screen or Normal "Glare Resistant" Screen?

I am close to purchasing a 15 inch Macbook Pro..I have seen both glossy and glare resistant screens and when ordering online i am prompted with a choice. in my trips to the apple store i have been leaning to the Normal screen. i think it looks more classy, but i want to know what you think? is there one that is outright better, or is it just a personal choice?

if you are using this outdoors with sun and really bright lighting all the time..then get matte...if not get glossy...it makes movies shine!

which one do you think is overall better for viewing in normal lighting? glossy? yes but it looks cheap and gets smeared in fingerprints

After using a matte screen on my iBook for about 3 years then switching to a glossy screen on my MacBook, I have to say I much prefer the glossy screen. It's much easier on my eyes and has better colour, IMO.

I prefer matte, but you should go to the nearest apple store and see for yourself. We all have our reasons.

I wholly agree.

It's a personal choice and it really depends on the lighting of your environment.

I don't know if it's the same type of Matte as on the Mac Book, but I really like the matte finish on my thinkpad works great in all lighting conditions for me.

ive already been to the apple store. I've seen a friends macbook.

Mine problably would be mostly used indoors and in a car, with occasional outside use, as well as trips to panera bread. so do you think glossy would be the way to go? im scared about fingerprints getting all over it.

I have a glossy screen on my notebook and I love it, my dad has a matte finish and the colors just aren't the same.

I don't have to many problems with fingerprints, but I try to avoid touching the screen at all times. The only thing that I have noticed is the dust it does seem slightly more visible with this glossy screen, but only at odd angles, and especially when the sreen is black.

Car = outside. Unless u have an enclosed van.

Now, this isn't an Apple screen, but I assume it has similar conditions-

My sister has a 15" Sony LCD on her PC, with a matte screen. My parents have a 17" Sony LCD on their PC, with a glossy screen. The colour on the glossy screen is much nicer, but it's terrible to clean. They use theirs near the window, so on their CRT there was always a glare, but none on the new LCD.
