Have you seen the Nano?!
It's not what you think.

It's the Nano Head by Z.Vex Amps. Pretty cool little device, looks perfect for at home practice and whatnot, and the cool factor is through the roof as it's the smallest production tube amp! I just thought it was cool. Check out the movie, it sounds pretty good: nano demo movie (http://media.zvex.com/nano.mov). I love cool little stuff like this.

I wonder if Apple's gonna send a CAD letter?

Interesting find. If anyone shoud send a letter it should be zvexamps. If you check THIS ( http://reviews.harmony-central.com/reviews/Guitar+Amp/product/Zachary+Vex/Nano+Head/100/1) site, it shows it was in existence at least by 2005.

Sorry to be the killjoy, but looks home made. Graphics by someone who's not allowed to fly by him/herself.
And a &$^%# FAN? Yer kidding. That's a no-no.

How else to dissipate heat from the tubes?

So how many of these things have been made? Each one probably has a different look because they're hand painted.

Hey Jimmy, have you seen your Homer Simpson lunch box anywhere? And who's taken the handles off the wardrobe door?....
Dissipate heat from valves? Jeez, whatever did we do in the pre-cooling fan days?.....

The tube sits on top (outside) the case?
Seen the Fatman and other high-end audio gears? No FAN period, nor end or buts. It's sacriledge. Like neons on a Rolls, or women making sushi.

oic. I don't know much about these tube amps. Anything close to being this small?

If u want small, u can buy a fairly powerful small transistor amplifier.
When u do TUBE, u are telling to the world, this is audiophile stuff (audiophile=someone who can hear the difference between cable#1 and cable#2). Hence the disconnect.
# 11 Re: Have you seen the Nano?!
Tubes do have a different sound that solid state can't replicate. Plus tube glow is awesome...
# 12 Re: Have you seen the Nano?!
Tubes do have a different sound that solid state can't replicate.Technically that's only true when an amplifier is driven into compression (i.e. when cranked up to the point where the output does not increase as much as the input increases). A tube amp experiences "soft compression" and produces stronger odd harmonics of the input signal. A solid state amp compresses harder and produces stronger even harmonics. It's that difference which gives a tube amp a "warmer" sound to the ear. But in the linear region of an amplifier's performance, you'd be hard-pressed to tell the difference between tube and silicon.

Good point. Either way tubes or solid state can sound. I think I just like the tube glow...
