deleting songs

All right. I've had my nano for a while. It's a first generation and I'm pretty good with computers and electronics. Recently, I put on some songs on my friend's iPod like usual. I ejected it properly and everything, then, wanting to update my iPod, I connected mine. It registered as my friend's iPod...transferred all the songs that she had on it onto mine. I deleted it, and now it went back to the 4GB compacity. I have used 3.7GB which is maximum compacity on mine. But there are no songs on there, and I want to delete the used up space. Any suggestions?

There isn't much that can go wrong with a nano which can't be fixed by a restore, but that will erase all of your music. If you still have the files in your iTunes library, then this shouldn't be a problem as it's simply a matter of reloading it, which takes about 20 minutes for me (I also have a 4GB nano) on USB 2.0, but I think my USB is a little on the slow side(?). If your iPod was manually managed and you no longer have the files in your iTunes library, then it's slightly more complicated. Hopefully you have a backup of the files somewhere, which you'll have to load onto the computer and reimport into iTunes before you can load them back onto the iPod.
