ipod issue. music not on computer but is on ipod :(

I have a problem that could effect my entertainment life in dramatic ways - recently my hard drive crashed and I lost all of my data and music BUT i still have all my music on my ipod. is there a easy and free way to transfer my music back onto my computer's NEW hard drive and conserve my playlist / playcount etc? any help would be appreciated on this as i am currently without music on my computer! thanks! (i have a 20gb ipod if it makes a difference) ** i am also running win xp! ***

Help, I have the exact same problem. Can someone please point us in the right direction to resolve this problem? I don't want to lose my bought music from Itunes Store (all my other MP3's are on another computer). Thanks in advance for any and all help provided.

Share Pod, yamipod, copypod, iPod rip are all programs that will help you.

Alternatively you can turn on hidden folders on the iPod and get the contents of the iPod_control folder. This will get you your music, but will not allow you to rebuild playlists, playcounts, etc.

For lost purchased music that is on the iPod, as long as you have iTunes 7 and the computer is authorized, you can use the new "transfer purchases" function in iTunes to get your purchased music back to iTunes. works for purchases, but you can't use iTunes to transfer back non-purchases.
