How to set my signature?

hey guys, i've looked everywhere on my usercp to find somewhere to set my signature, but can't find it. is this another option, such as avatars, that becomes available only after a certain number of posts?

The only members of iLounge that can have Avatars are members who have been on the lounge for 1 year and have over 1,500 posts.

To get a signature, look on the right of the computer screen where it says Shortcuts + Settings, when you click on it, there should be an option called Edit Signature under User Controls.

All new members option to have signatures is restricted until they have 10 posts after 7 days. Some other forum functions are also restricted for the same period. Sorry if this seems unfair but the spammers will try all sorts of tricks.

no, that doesn't seem unfair, i can understand any attempts to thwart the spammers. i just didn't know why the option wasn't showing up. thanks for the reply.

This is regarding an earlier question I asked, but it fits here. If you can remove the "Edit Signature" menu in the shortcuts until there are 10 posts and 7 days, why can't the "Edit Avatar" be removed for 1500 posts and 1 year?

It's all down to Usergroups - we can restrict certain aspects of what a usergroup can do but the Avatars are a global setting - we haven't found a way to limit the forum template display of Avatars to the relevant group. Hence everyone has the setting visible in their CP menu.

Maybe vBulletin 3.5.6 then :D

It does seem like it should be a feature if the signature one is. I know it's not iLounge's problem though.

From a technical point of view, it has to do with where the permissions code is coming in. The "Avatar" option does not appear on any menu when viewing the User Profile unless you have access to avatars, but some reason the flag for this doesn't get populated properly on the main page display, thereby defaulting to displaying it on the main menu drop-down.

It's probably quite fixable, but not a priority and I haven't had a lot of time to look at it.

I'm just wondering how long it takes for the signature option to show up after you've made 10 posts? (It has been seven full days since I registered. I know some boards require the full seventh or tenth or whatever day to pass before features are enabled)

It's ten posts and seven days (or specifically, 168 hours), and the process that checks this only runs on an hourly basis, so it doesn't necessarily take effect right away.

I've just checked your profile, and you should be fine now.
