Hard Drive Noise

I found this in the FAQ
"iPod is definitely not noisy. You usually can not hear the HDD at all. Occasionally, you may hear a very soft click when the drive spins up, but it is not very noticeable. "

Sometimes I hear a clicking noise but I'm worried its more than just a "soft click" and then a whirring. Is this normal or should I get it checked out?

This is pretty normal, especially if you're watching a movie or skipping around in songs quite a bit. This is due to the iPod only having a 32 or 64 mb buffer (depending on which size of iPod). If you exceed that buffer, then the HDD spins up to queue up the next 32/64mb worth of data.
