The PSP users thread
i figured i would start this thread and people who have psps could list there favorite games and what they have on it and stuff
Favorite Games:
Fifa Soccer World Cup (07 on preorder)
Madden 06
MLB 06: The Show
Midnight Club 3 Dub
UMD movies:
spiderman 2 that came with it(i would NEVER buy a UMD over $5.)
Accesories:
Playgear pocket
UMD holders
----
i own a NDS and a PSP... the NDS has more fun games and intuitive(sp?) games but i favor my psp because i am more of a madden/nbalive/MLB/fifa player and those games are like 98% of the PS2 games and the NDS games like that are garbage and underdelveloped and not suited for it. The PSP is suited for it with its big screen, and good graphics. the NDS with its microphone, touch screeen and dual screens is better for games madee specifically for it (ie. nintendogs brain age..etc)

i have a PSP and like it a lot, but im still considering getting myself a DS Lite, the games i have for PSP are:
Wipeout Pure (good)
Gretsky NHL (not very good, especially compared to the EA NHL games)
NBA Street (good)
Burnout Revenge (excellent)
SSX: On Tour (excellent)
im still considering the DS Lite purchase for games like Mario but i dont really have the money for it so i would have to save for it, and im not sure if its worth it

Depending on how GT4P goes I might entertain one if the price goes down more but other than that it isn't worth it to me.

The Price "Drop" so far was that they removed all the accesories, UMD sampler and 32MB stick(all useless). from 250 USD to 200 USD... they should lower the price but the way i hear it sony is already losing profits from each PSP sold, as i head the LCD is $200 itself. the only way there making profits is from $40-$50 games and $20-$30 UMD movies(which everyone hates)
# 5 Re: The PSP users thread
yep... They really bombed it but it wasn't really their fault. DS lite isn't helping either.

yeah, everyone seems to love ds lite, and i can see why they do, but for me i like my psp because as stated before, i play sports and racing and they are very close clones to PS2 quality and graphics, some even exteeding it, and ds lite just cant deliver that.
the ds lite is more of a portable gaming system and the psp is like a gaming system that you can bring with you places

I don't have a PSP , I have two DSs though.
I saw a PSP movie disk for only AUD$2.99 at Australia Fair toy shop (Southport) - it was a sports show - best of AFL. not bad seeing these UMDs are usually AUD$30. Worth it just for the wow factor of having a video disk.
# 8 Re: The PSP users thread
In a world of virtual storage and downloadable content any kind of physical storage is obsolete IMO.

yeah, i immediatly bought a gig stick for gamesaves and 2 or 3 movies (i have them all on my video ipod, but i would rather watch on psp), and no music(previosly stated ipod)
if you have a psp or plan on buying one, spend the cash and get at least 1GB memory stick pro duo. theyve certainly lowered the price since i bought one:p

for 2.99 AUD? what is that like $2 USD? wow.. for that i would buy a UMD.

the last handheld game system i had was a gameboy advance and i only had about 3 games for it until i got out of the handheld system thing, when i did play with a friends PSP i liked the GTA game but i cant justify spending $250 on this small unit, then have to spend another 20-50 dollars to buy games or DVD's for it, i have the ipod video and i think its just as good as the psp minus the game portion because its cheaper for music and videos.
# 11 Re: The PSP users thread
with no video, i think its just going to fall amoung the many not ipod daps. i dont think it will do very much to sandisks spot, and it wont chip the paint on ipods percentile... unless theres something microsoft isnt telling us in fear of another "attack of the killer aunts(head over to the "why vista isnt out yet" if you dont already know what i mean;)
I kinda assumed it would since they did say "iPod alternative"... Oh well, if it's the right size has drag 'n drop and a good price I know some people that would use it as a music player just fine over getting any kind of iPod. Vista is a joke and only those that are sucked into having the newest stuff or are clueless will get it... Unless it comes preloaded of course. Either way it would be ######ed if it only ran on Vista anyway because no one would use the player and that would be bad for the sale of these... Zunes.

Not only that but the PSP is portable gaming and I just don't have that much time to dedicate to a game much less finishing it. It's pointless at home because I got my PS2 and PC.

yep, cheap. If I had a PSP I would buy it - just 'cos its so cheap.

does that mean you don't have music stored on your ipod?
# 14 Re: The PSP users thread
does that mean you don't have music stored on your ipod?
Quite the contrary... I have a #### load of Movies, videos, music and Podcasts. I think I still have 1.5gbs of space left. I believe that's around the capacity of a PSP. :p
I can take a screen shot of my contents if you like.
# 15 Re: The PSP users thread
But isn't the ipods hard drive physical storage :)
(I don't have a PSP by the way ;) )
# 16 Re: The PSP users thread
Better than carrying a purse of UMDs plus a big ### player. Granted you'll be doing that with games anyway.

yeah, my ipod is my carry around in my pocket music/video player and i love it for that... but for car trips and stuff like that i like to bring my psp along tooo, but i use it with a playgear pocket so its enourmous to carry in a pocket, so i dont.

From what I have seen online you can buy the screens for $50 new and you know they are still making a profit on that. The money is in the flash, screen, and drive. Dont forget what they are raking in on those memory cards.
I love my 1.5 psp, plays every game out there. Custom firmware for the win.
# 19 Re: The PSP users thread
hey why did this get moved to board games?
and 1.5 is awesome, but how can you play the games that force you to update. i did for MLB 06..
# 20 Re: The PSP users thread
Custom firmware and devhook. Basically my 1.5 can emulate 2.71 and lower.

Well I hope this isnt against the rules but I have a psp website under development. www.xmb-psp.com is the link. If you want to be a reviewer sign up and give me an email. As of right now we cannot pay the staff but we will get google adsense up eventually. Yes I know its empty but you have to start somewhere...
