4g ipod mod problem
I think I may need some expert advice! I ressurected a dead 4g ipod (replaced screen and upgraded battery to 830mAh), and now it all seems to work nicely... most of the time. The backlight has a tendancy not to work sometimes unless I squeeze the case either side of the screen, and for some reason when this happens the screen has artifacts left on it of the previous screen. This can lead to a very dirty looking cluttered screen!
My question is really whether I should risk opening the case yet again, or whether this is likely to be a problem associated with the ipod once having been 'drowned' (how it died in the first place). Does anyone know if the pins to the backlight can be affected by me squeezing the case?
's all very confusing!
Sorry if this post is in the wrong forum... if it is, let me know and I''ll remove it!

Just worked it out... turns out that in changing the screen the connecter had becom a bit lax, and needed pressure to make contact with the pins. Cut some sheet rubber to size, cutting slots out for the clips on the side to keep it in the right place, and replaced the hard drive on top. The pressure has resolved all but the backlight problem, which is itself a great deal easier to correct.
Lesson learned... don't mess about with the internals of expensive equipment unless you know what you're doing!

It's perfectly ok to mess around with the internals of expensive things, unless something gets broken. http://forums.ilounge.com/images/smilies/wink.gif
