*MCE2005* - .dvr-ms to .mov or .mp4 for 5gen ipod

:o I'm using Microsoft MCE2005 and the built in features for dvr'ing tv shows.

The shows are saved onto the computer as file format *.dvr-ms

Does anyone have a quick, easy, *Free* solution to convert *.dvr-ms to *.mov or *.mp4 for the new video IPOD.

My current solution is to convert from *.dvr-ms to *.wmv using one program, 'DVR 2 WMV' (takes about the same length of time as the show i am converting (i.e. 30 min show, convert time is 30 min)). And then converting from *.wmv to *.mov using another software.

I am looking for a software that would do it in 1-stop as opposed to 2-stops, and preferably in 10 min or less for a 30 min show.

THANKS!!!!!

I use PSP Video Express. Although .dvr-ms files are not listed it still works fine. When you import a .dvr-ms file you will have to change the file filter to "All Files" before it will show up in the file dialog. It is a one-step solution.

MyTVToGo works well. Integrated into MCE2005. Costs $30 and converts 30 minutes in 15 but it has an 'auto convert' feature that works great. www.mytvtogo.com

I just used Video Vault by Diversified Multimedia (http://www.diversifiedmultimedia.com/) and it is a one step process. Go from dvr-ms to Ipod mp4, bring it into iTunes and you're done. AND it doesn't take as long as the show. About 1/2 the time or a little less.

Cost is between $40 and $100 depending on howmany devices you want it to be able to convert for (ipods, psps, pdas, smartphones, etc.) Go to their website. It's pretty clear.

Hope this helps.

It's multistep, but can be automated (see my post at TGB (http://thegreenbutton.com/forums/thread/98442.aspx)). Use DVRMSToolbox (http://thegreenbutton.com/forums/thread/99008.aspx) to convert to MPEG (takes about 5 minutes per hour of video). Then use Videora to convert to MP4.

BTW, the script at TGB creates a batch file that is then executed. The commands in the resulting batch file could very easily be converted into one that accepts command line arguments, which would allow you to drag and drop onto the batch file and convert in one step. I don't think your time requirement is possible, though.
