Not only does it work, it works wonderfully.

If you're using a Mac, I use handbrake, but htere are plenty of alternatives available for the mac. Quicktime itself can convert your movies (Pro version only I believe). Final cut, etc. Handbrake is the only free one i believe.

But back to Videora, if you're on a PC, it's the best there is to offer right now, and at the rate thy're going, looks to have a promising future for our 5G iPod's.

Absolutely! Ive been using it and its GREAT. Make sure you dont use the default H.264 setting because for some reason the ipod will not play these if converted from Videora.

Also another tip i figured out is to go into the settings and change it up a bit. All of my DVDs are widescreen format, so I've been converting them at 368x208 and I get widescreen video on my iPod :) Plus with the widescreen On/Off option built in to the ipod you still can stretch it to fullscreen if youd like.

So basically Ive been using SP [768kbps] Encoding at 368x208 with 96kbps audio (to save some space, still sounds real good)

Enjoy videora, i know I am

I followed the instructions to the letter and this is not working for me. All the converstions do what they're supposed to do, but the end result will not sync to my 5G.

There's already a bunch of threads about this in the Filling your iPod -> TV & Video ( http://forums.ilounge.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=91) forum.

I heard Videora doesn't work. I tried it and it works on iTunes, but I haven't recieved my iPod yet. However, a person on the TV/Video section of the forums says videos from Videora will work in iTunes but won't transfer to your iPod. He used PSP Video Express (Not 9; they're different, I have both). PSP Video Express works in iTunes, so I'm hoping it also works on the iPod like he said it does.

Videora doesn't work for me. IT converted my .WMV files to mp4 but when I try and play it, all I get is audio playback. The video seems to be stuck in the first image.

If you have .wmv files, use PSP Video express (download.com) for it. Works excellent! I use Videora for DVD only. For VCD or .wmv files, I use PSP Video Express.

Here is a decent format that SHOULD be useable on your iPods. NOTE: i do not have a video iPod because i am waiting to get my money back for my broken 3gen from American Express.

MODE: MPEG 4> CBR
Resolution: 320x240 (I think it is full screen)
Passes: 2
Bitrate: 768kbps
Framerate: 29.97fps OR 23.976fps

Converter URL: http://www.videora.com/en-us/Converter/iPod/

1 minVideo Converted with format above: Ok i converted a video using the settings i suggested. If you want to download it here is the link http://esnips.com/foldermember/ce0801db-1904-4970-b74c-afa5a3485f7c/?source=ws&v=325121

I have been trying for literally hours to use videoera and I have no idea what to do (yes, I read the user guide). I have searched and searched and searched some more to find a good program that works, and I have nothing. All I want is some Finding Nemo on my iPod! HELP!

(BTW, I only can get free versions of things, so if you need the pro version of videoera to do this, then that's where I've been going wrong. Please help! Or just e-mail me some Nemo!)

PSP video 9 works just fine with the correct settings. I havent tried Videora, but so far I've got about 15 Gigs worth in my iPod and it all works. BUT I don't know how to correct the aspect ratio...some of my widescreen movies are getting stretched out. As a matter of fact, Im gonna strat a topic.

For those that have gotten either programs to work, it might be useful if you post the settings that worked and how it looks on a tv if you've tested it (expecially for the abnormal resolutions like 640x320).

The streching out thing can be fixed in video settings on your ipod.

What settings did you use in videora, and check your audio settings too.

It wont play good on iPod, but it would be 320x176 on videora. And it will look very similar

Where did you get the info that 640x360 won't look good on the ipod?

It will work, but the ipod is meant to handle 320x240, so it will kill battery and wont look as good if you use 640x360

It's meant to handle up to 320x240 for h246 and up to 480x480 for mpeg4. Since the ipod currently can't read h246 files from 3rd party software, then obviously we should be talking about the limitations of mpeg4 (480x480 AND 640x360) which is the only format that videora AND the ipod support.

Actually, neither of those things is true. I did a test encode of a 2 hour movie at 720 x 304 resolution and 1300kbps. It looks great on the iPod. Not a huge difference from the same movie encoded at 320 x whatever, but I think it did look better. Admittedly, this is probably more from the higher bitrate, rather than the extra resolution. I also did a battery test by playing the entire movie. When it was done, I had enough to watch two more half hour TV shows, and there was still battery left.

# 33 Re: Ipod Video Converter!!
I've been experimenting with different bit rates to see if it affected battery life, but it doesn't seem to.

My personal test have produced the same results! 720 x 304 (mpeg4, 1400 kbps) looks awesome both on the iPod and output to TV! No appreciable difference in battery life.
