downloading podcasts into ipod - going into songs folder
(if this has been posted before, i apologise! its just driving me mad and i didnt see anything on it..)
when i download a podcast (mind you, i am still quite new to all of this! but it seems straightforward!!) - it goes into the podcast folder on itunes (i have the itunes 6). but when i move it to my ipod, it doesnt go into the podcasts folder there, but into the songs folder.
how can get the podcasts into the podcast folder on my ipod?

I have the same problem. All my podcasts go to Genres -> Podcast

There's a way to have the podcasts stay in the podcast directory and not the library. Just delete the podcasts out of the library without sending them to the recycle bin. Now go to the podcast directory. If you attempt to play the podcast, it wont because you deleted them out of the library. But if you go to the physical location of the podcast file and drag it into the podcast directory, they will appear in there and not in the library.

I'm talking about on the iPod, not on iTunes, and so is lunarx.

This started happening to me today, too. It really sucks, all my new podcasts are separated fine on itunes, but once they get to my ipod, they just get mixed up with the regular music and don't get to the actual podcast folder. This is with existing subscriptions, and new ones.

AHA! I found the solution! Go into the iPod options from iTunes, click the "Podcasts" tab, and make sure "automatically update podcasts" is selected. Now update, and all your podcasts will go to the podcast folder! :-)
