Wow, that's quite an achievment, though as you said, nothing compared to some on these forums! :)

I broke a thousand around December last year...
I'm around 90+ away from breaking 2000 now :)
But than again it's not how many songs you have, its how many you listen to. CoughWolseycough. ;)
# 6 Re: Broke 1000
I think I broke a thousand the day I got it.
But since you say "people in my school", I take it you haven't had 40+ years to develop a list of music you like...so 1000 is pretty good!

Ugh damn you! But my friend, have you listened to all of it? Nope :D
Congrats on the 1,000 tracks. You'll get loads more I imagine.. I started off with about 800 songs a year and a half ago when I first got my iPod... now I've got 4,000 or so :)

I've still got around 500 to go before I reach 1,000... I haven't uploaded all my CDs to my computer though, so overall I guess I have around 650/700 songs...

You're just jealous...!
Maybe you do all of my work over the next two months, so I can listen to it all? ;)
I do listen to music for five hours a day, at least, so I'll make it...eventually.

Wow, I started my digi collection back in January of '04 with 337 tracks. It took me a looong while to break 1000 (not 'til March of this year, yipes!).
Nevertheless, I'm proud to say I've been steadily building it since - 2144 tracks (not including podcasts) as of today and counting!
I could never aspire to be like Doug/Dan, though... [Me: down here. Doug/Dan: on a pedestal ;) ]

No! Not at all! *mutters*

# 13 Re: Broke 1000
I just got to 1130. I had about 500 songs a month ago, then i started working on my music collection.... crazy how many songs some people have tho. I guess im kinda limited because I dont like a lot of different genres. Id say 85% of my music is either hip hop or rap. O well im sure ill have 2000 by the end of november.
# 14 Re: Broke 1000
Where are you getting all your music from JMan? That has grown immensely.

Doug "dan" Gilmour (not sure which to call you),
Why dont you put the music that you dont listen to on a seperate backup drive. Free up space on the drive, but keep your bragging rights (;)).
Or maybe youve already done that/have a 300-500 gb hard drive?
# 17 Re: Broke 1000
i must be in the middle of everyone i have 5849 songs. i guess to some thats alot but on here, in comparison to some, i feel like i dont have any music at all.
# 18 Re: Broke 1000
congrats on the 1000, enjoy the music you have and always try to keep your musical tastes growing along with your collection.

Currently I don't need to do that, but my 160GB HDD is running low, but I will have a new 300GB one in a few weeks time anyways..

I have 3809 songs. Probably 3790 songs. 19.3 gigabytes. A month or so ago it was growing very very fast, because I only spent money on music, but I'm saving up now so it's slowed a little. I've listened to about 1600 songs and can really only say I'll ever listen to about 3000. The other 8 hundred are legally downloaded songs I don't like and obscure jazz I have from when I made a jazz powerpoint for my mom's friend. I also will never listen to Cher, but the vast majority is either music I bought or music that's my parents' but I like.
Congrats on 1k. I had that about a year ago, it's amazing how fast they grow if you want them to.
# 21 Re: Broke 1000
awesome Brandon, still growing my music collection.

I pay for the unlimited from napster then using a program I bought called tunebite it converts all the songs into mp3's making them able to go onto ipods! For awhile I used limewire (for less than 50 songs) but I wanted unlimited and to still be legal so this seems like the perfect solution. Its fun growing my collection, but some stuff isnt available on napster like kanye west late registration so i had to buy that, as well as some young buck and lloyd banks that I like.
The funny thing is that i dont technically have an ipod yet but I am in the process of buying one currently. With my current growth in collection it finally legitimized the purchase of an ipod.
# 23 Re: Broke 1000
Where can I find that application to change them to MP3's? Mac compaible?
# 24 Re: Broke 1000
I use Windows XP so I dont know if it is Mac compatable or not but just google tunebite, id link you to it but this site wont let me post url's for some reason
You have to buy it or else it will only do 10 seconds of the song to show you its capabilities. It works great for me as a legal way to get the music I want. Plus napster has a nice interface to work with.
BTW im now up to 1205 songs and 5.35GB
Just discovered this board yesterday, its great.
# 25 Re: Broke 1000
Ok, thanks for that, I might catch you on MSN sometime, send me a PM with your address for MSN or AIM :)

^ By doing what you are doing, your songs aren't legal really...

actually napster said it was fine. Why wouldnt it be legal? your just changing the format of the song... im still paying for the music and not stealing it.

If napster say it is fine to change the DRM on the files, then why would they bother making users 'rent' their music...

I have no clue but I guess its because im still paying for "renting" the music every month... at any rate it works like a charm.
# 30 Re: Broke 1000
Yeah, it might work like a charm, but technically, it is illegial. Oh well ;)
# 31 Re: Broke 1000
