Remixing

Those of you who remix music (let's assume we're all remixing music we have the legal right to)... what kinds of software do you use? I've vaguely heard of names like Cakewalk, but that's about all I know.

Is there a "remixing for dummies" tutorial out there?

I'm mostly just looking to play around, not do anything professional. Like a few years ago (~2000) I played with video files and made a music video in Windows Movie Maker. It looks really horrible, but I had fun.

I should add that I have a little experience in Goldwave.

I use Live (http://www.ableton.com/) on OS X for mixing and producing music. I use it for pretty much everything, live sets, producing electronica as well as producing music with my guitar and bass. Its not exactly cheap but it comes highly rated.

It also comes with a very extensive set of tutorials that explain the software very well.
