Best Video Out Cable For New iPOD?

I just want some of your opinions on the various video out cables for the iPod. I was planning on buying the one for $19.00 tomorrow from apple. However, has anyone ever had any hands on experience from all the various ones, and could you actually tell the difference between all of them? Thanks.

I'd go with the aple cable.. only because you know it will work with both video and audio. I tried a few I had at home at I was unable to get video/picture. As I found you need what apple call in marketing terms a 'special' cable.Schnake at 2007-11-15 16:00:43 >

im pretty sure any cable will work, they just have the video and on eof the audio cables switched around to make it so that alot of not so intellegent consumers will try a cable thay already have with say their digital camersa, discover that it doesnt work, and then go spend 20 bucks on the apple one.pedro love at 2007-11-15 16:01:43 >

I can also confirm this one, if you plug the "red" (right channel) plug into the video input, it will be the one that puts video onto your screen. I'm not sure which of the audio channels is left/right (out of the "white" cable and the "yellow" one) but they both have an audio channel. I've also heard only the Apple cables work. I received mine yesterday but have not tested it yet. I'm assuming since it's from Apple it will work, I don't have any extra AV cables and I wanted some of the other accessories so I just broke down and bought the $40 cable kit. I will be doing some testing through TVs this evening on both movie/cartoon encodes on small and large screens to see what the quality is like. If you don't mind using the above color matchup when you dont need to buy the Apple cable.

I didn't buy the apple cable, and the quality on my iPod is awesome. I have a dock connector with a S-video out and a line out, so I went down to my local electronics shop and bought 2 cables : One being a cable which connects to my line out and then separates to the audio jacks at the composite of my TV. The other cable I bought was one that connected the S Video out to the S video jack of my TV. I can confirm a regular Camcorder AV cable works i bought one from radioshack for 17.00 and its like 20feet long and black and matches perfect with my ipod and its great with the distance of the cable.ExTrEmE at 2007-11-15 16:16:00 >
