im5 vs im3

I am looking to get a set of portable speakers for my ipod. I want a set with an ipod dock. right now i am mainly looking at the altec lansing im5 or im3, which is better, or should i get something else?

Hi RuachI have tested both IM3 & IM5 in a store. They both sound similar as they use similar speakers. However there are two major differences.
1. The IM3 has remote control but no video out.
2. The IM5 has no remote control but it has video out to send photos or video from the docked ipod to a TV. (no use for my nano)
Sizewise, they are similar too, IM3 is thinner when folded up and IM5 is less tall but a little thicker than IM3.
So this may help you to choose your portable speakers for your ipod. I have a nano and so I bought the IM3 and a kensington stereo dock which works beautifully with my hi-fi and the IM3 is good for my sleeping room and on the road.
The IM3 sounds crisp and pretty good for small rooms.
